Steamship Company Tightens Rules On Travel Club Members

steamship company signThe Steamship Company is tightening Travel Club identity checks because some islanders have abused the system.

From Monday, locals renewing their annual scheme membership will be issued with an official photo ID card.

Passengers will have to use that card at check-in for both Scillonian and Skybus trips on both sides of the water.

And if you don’t present your ID, you’ll be charged the full brochure fare for that part of your journey before you’re allowed travel.

The company says they’ve introduced the new system because of fraud.

Last year it emerged that an islander had purchased discounted tickets on behalf of a passenger who wasn’t eligible for the reduced fare.
