Lock Switch Baffles Islands’ Police

police station 4St Mary’s Police are investigating a mysterious shed lock-cutting case as burglary.

And they’ve turned to their thousands of Facebook friends all over the world as they try to crack the crime.

At the start of this month, a small lock was found on the door of a Duchy-owned shed at Pendrathen. The shed’s been there since 1971 and is used by the Nornour gig shareholders.

The tenant replaced the lock with a larger one, but that bigger lock was then cut and removed this weekend and police want to find out who did it and why.

Nothing was taken but Sergeant Colin Taylor says the charge could potentially change to criminal damage if more facts emerge.

Colin says the ownership of the shed is well established but he’s investigating a theory that there’s another claim to it.
