St Agnes’ boat operator says he’ll provide an essential service for islanders by sub-contracting another boatman while his boats are out of service.

John Peacock’s boat, The Spirit, has sustained some serious damage to the starboard bow and shoulder.

It was possibly caused by large wave containing debris.

The MCA want it repaired before passenger operations can recommence so the boat’s been despatched to Falmouth for the work, which should take a fortnight.

His other boat, Enterprise, was surveyed last Tuesday and damage was discovered that also requires repair.

So John has arranged for James Stedeford to operate a Tuesday shopping boat.

He says islanders should still book services on 422 704 and he’s confident that all islanders who wish to travel can be accommodated, but as James’ capacity is twelve passengers, it might require multiple trips.
