Kier Workers Helping To Keep Islands’ Beaches Pristine

kier minibusSt Mary’s beaches will be cleaner for the start of the new holiday season.

The recent poor weather has delayed the delivery of dredging equipment from Falmouth, being used on the quay extension and widening scheme.

But during their downtime, a group of up to twenty staff from Kier Construction has volunteered to help remove litter from Town Beach, Porthcressa, Porthloo, Porthmellon, Thomas Porth and Old Town beaches.

Additional beaches may be added to that list.

Kier has also committed to help with the IFCA’s crawfish and lobster monitoring programme.

Kier Construction’s agent Rients Jan Veldkamp tells Radio Scilly that the staff and the company are keen to assist in keeping the islands beautiful as that’s “why so many tourists keep coming back.”
