Police Express Concern After Navigation Aid Damaged

harrys wallsSt Mary’s Police are warning that irresponsible behaviour uncovered this week could have risked the safety of sailors in and around St Mary’s Harbour.

They want the person who tampered with a maritime navigational aid to consider how their actions could have endangered lives.

It appears that someone used a screwdriver to access the electrics powering the safety light marker, which overlooks the harbour from Harry’s Walls.

Whoever broke into the supply box turned them off.

St Mary’s Harbour is responsible for maintaining some of the navigational aids around the islands on behalf of Trinity House. Their staff reinstated the light when they realised it had been disabled.
