There’s a double promotional boost for Scilly tourism today. Prestigious travel magazine Condé Nast has recommended that its readers visit both the islands’ newest hotel and Scilly’s oldest accommodation property.

The recently opened Karma St Martin’s hotel is listed as one of the 101 Most Interesting New Properties on the Planet.

The former St Martin’s on the Isles hotel started trading under new management in August last year and is undergoing some refurbishment this winter.

The travel publication, which boasts around 820,000 subscribers, refers to St Martin’s “crystal clear” water, “pristine” meadows and says that the Gulf Stream keeps temperatures at balmy levels.

They recommend dips in the hotel’s indoor pool or snorkelling with seals nearby. And they advise their readers to stay in the hotel in 2015.

Condé Nast says that all Scilly’s mainland departure airports are easily reachable from London.

The magazine has also listed the Star Castle as one of five historic British buildings that double as luxury hotels. The Good Hotels Guide-backed article recommends the 1593 castle’s Dungeon Bar with its charm that is “hard to escape.”
