Festivities Start On St Agnes This Evening

st agnesSanta Claus will need to be particularly alert on Sunday when he arrives to distribute gifts to the children of St Agnes at their annual Christmas party, because if he’s not careful he’ll be turning up at the wrong venue.

After a decade or more of being held in the island’s school, this year’s festive celebrations are taking place several hundred yards away in the award-winning Island Hall.

However, this evening (Friday) the seasonal centre of attention will be at St Agnes church but again with youngsters to the fore. There will be Christmas carols for all and the children are going to be performing a special little play penned by islander Piers Lewin.

Proceedings will be brought to a conclusion with mince pies in the nave washed down for adults in attendance by glasses of mulled wine.

The church will then empty as islanders carefully make their way round for a fish and chip supper at the Turk’s Head!
