St Agnes Churchgoers Taking No Chances With This Year’s Christmas Services

Last Christmas, weather disruption meant that St Agnes churchgoers celebrated their Christmas Day service eighteen days after the 25th.

This year, islanders are taking no chances.

Christmas Communion will be held this Sunday at 9.15am and they’ve already held two special events at the weekend, both with an unusual twist.

Sunday’s sell-out meal for forty locals at the Turk’s Head didn’t have any turkey in sight. Instead islanders sat down to share a Christmas curry!

And on Friday night, locals gathered at the island school for mulled wine, mince pies and chocolates created by Isla Hicks and Sanchia Hick.

At the event, they had to guess the weight of Sanchia’s younger sister Sylvie, dressed up in pink as a fairy.

School Governor Carol Hicks turned out to be spot on with her educated estimate of 20.1kg.
