Two Councillors Nominated For Queen’s Garden Party Visit

Buckingham PalaceTwo Isles of Scilly councillors will be representing the Authority at the Queen’s Garden Party at Buckingham Palace next year.

Cllr Andy Guy was nominated by members at the Full Council meeting on Tuesday.

He thanked councillors for the “great honour”, saying his wife is a Royalist and she’ll be “very happy” to attend.

Andy also declined to take the usual offer of payment for out-of-pocket expenses. Instead, he said he wanted to pay his own way and the Council would incur no costs.

In light of the fact that Andy wasn’t using the money that the Council had put aside, Vice Chairman Gaz O’Neill proposed sending a second representative, Cllr Steve Sims, and members agreed that Steve and a partner could go to the Palace too.
