Skybus Explain Fees To Change Medical Flights

skybus twin otterSkybus have been explaining why islanders are being charged to change medical travel warrant flights.

They say the fee is intended to encourage more people to stick to their agreed, allocated appointment and to reduce the administration burden on the NHS and the Steamship Company.

Some locals have raised the issue of the £10 charge with Healthwatch.

Carol Clarke from the patient representation group says they’ve had a few complaints, “but not a massive amount” from passengers who have been billed for changing their bookings.

Carol says the medical tickets are arranged by the NHS, who need to go through the Steamship Company’s Travel Centre if a booking is changed more than once.

Carol says it’s reasonable that the extra admin cost is covered, and the NHS will only pass on the fee if a flight is changed due to your personal decision.
