Steamship Company Not Affected By New EU Fuel Rules

scillonian summer 2014Scillonian passenger fares and Gry Maritha freight costs will be unaffected when new European marine fuel legislation comes into force on New Year’s Day.

Bell Rock Hotel Manager Daniel Lawson contacted the Steamship Company and Radio Scilly with his concerns after the Daily Mail claimed that all ferry fares could rise by up to 30% on 1st January because of a requirement to use low sulphur marine fuel.

Yesterday the Steamship Company told Radio Scilly that they already used it in their vessels so the new rules won’t affect their tariffs.
