Good Turnout For Epilepsy Charity Christmas Market

carly epilepsy christmas market 2014The first major fundraiser for the Epilepsy Society in Scilly certainly won’t be the last.

Amy Whyler-Pritchard, who organised Saturday’s morning and evening Craft Fayre at the Atlantic Hotel and Inn says it raised £1,169.

And she says the event will return next year, but possibly on another day of the week to make attendance easier for off-islanders.

Sue Seddon, who owns Scilly Socks at Porthloo, attended on Saturday.

Sue says, like local food, there’s a big trend towards handmade goods on the islands, which means there’s more demand for craft markets like this. And she says the fair was very well organised.

Carly Phillips of Scilly Gems, also at Porthloo, says fairs like Saturday’s allow her to showcase her crafts to islanders. She says after a busy summer working in the shop and mainly dealing with visiting shoppers, it was good to catch up with the locals again.
