American Author Launches Romantic Novel Set In Scilly

the deepest night book coverScilly is set to get more publicity next week with the launch of a new romantic novel set on the islands.

‘The Deepest Night,’ was written by American author Kara Braden.

It’s already generated media interest in the States and features on the front cover of December’s RT magazine. The American literary review has over 150,000 subscribers.

The lead character is an American on a fortnight’s holiday, staying with a friend who has taken on a Hugh Town B&B, Valhalla.

The heroine falls in love with a visiting soldier who is unaware that his friend, the former guesthouse owner, has died.

The book is unique because Kara has written a detailed account of life in Scilly, without ever setting foot on the islands.

From Radio Scilly

Kara Braden talks to Radio Scilly about her new romance, set in Scilly.

Kara has a British husband and she says she wanted to set her second novel in the UK. She was looking for somewhere remote and exotic and after extensive research decided that Scilly was perfect.

Kara says she spent time on business, tourism and even personal websites from Scilly and says the many photographs people post online gave her a very vivid picture of the place. She also contacted islanders, from her Arizona home, to understand how things work here.

And the more she researched, the more she fell in love with Scilly. Kara says it’s now her “number one spot to visit,” when she can manage it.

The Deepest Knight is launched next week on Amazon and as a talking book on Audible. Hard copy versions will be on sale in the United States.
