Truro School Reunion For Islands’ Former Pupils

truro school reunion 1Former Truro School pupils have met for a reunion on St Mary’s.

Their Former Pupils’ Association was officially established in August 1895, when it was known originally as the Old Boys’ Association

But this is the first Scilly-based get together for both male and female pupils and around twenty former students from the islands attended an afternoon tea on Friday at the Star Castle.

It was headmaster Andrew Gordon-Brown’s idea and he feels it’s important for former pupils to have a chance to catch up with their old schoolmates.

The attendees represented 50 years of graduates, from Fran Hicks, part of the ‘Class of 1964’ to Claire Rogers, the most recent pupil to attend.

Andrew says the school is trying to improve its contact with their alumni and hopes they’ll hold more reunions in the future.

Lucy Alldritt tracked down the attendees. She says while it can be a challenge finding former pupils in some areas, it wasn’t too difficult in Scilly!
