Scilly has received a tourism boost from Harper’s Bazaar.

The magazine, which is widely perceived to focus on British ‘high society’ and the lives of socialites and the aristocracy, has reviewed Tresco.

Article author Caroline Lewis highlights the island’s “tropical trees, turquoise seas and powder-white sands.”

Like many recent articles on Scilly, the fact that we don’t lock our homes gets a mention.

And Scilly’s excellent local-food offer of Tresco beef, lobster and crab gets a mention. The author suggests, “the crab linguine at the Ruin Beach Café is likely to be one of the best things you’ll ever eat.”

Unusually, the article mentions our reliance on the on-line retailer Amazon. The report says it “thrives” here, “delivering everything from pet food to presents in a chain of command that’s thought to involve as many as 12 people by the time each package arrives – from factory to ferry to postman.“
