Is This Scilly’s First Public Lift?

St Mary's quay

What could be Scilly’s first public lift is being fitted in the Harbourside building this week.

Harbourmaster Dale Clark says it’s designed to allow disabled access to the new first floor restaurant, being built as part of the refurbishment of the quay buildings.

The installation went smoothly and it’s now undergoing testing.

Dale says the Harbourside building is “looking great” and the work has given it “a new lease of life.”

A lift was fitted in care home Park House a few years ago but that isn’t open to the public. If you know of any other lifts in Scilly, past or present, let us know.
