Islands’ Tourism Body Welcomes New Flights Between Cornwall And Stansted

Photo by Theo MoyeThe Islands’ Partnership is welcoming the launch of a new air service between Newquay and London Stansted, in Essex.

A survey last year showed that 8% of visitors to the islands were from areas in the East of England served by this airport.

Flybe announced yesterday that they will be launching the route from May next year, with at least three flights a week over the summer period.

It follows recent news that the government will offer financial support for the airline to continue flying on the Newquay to Gatwick route.

Chairman of the Islands’ Partnership, Chris Gregory, says the announcement means improved connectivity between Devon and Cornwall and the South East.

He says the new routes from Exeter to London City and Newquay to Stansted both have the potential to provide improved access to Scilly.

Chris says the Partnership is already committing to increased promotion in London and these routes will add to the travel choices already available to the islands’ visitors.
