Hell Bay Hotel won the Best Small Hotel trophy at last night’s Cornwall Tourism Awards.

It’s the second year that the Bryher business, owned by Tresco Estate, has triumphed.

It means they’ll now go on to represent Cornwall and Scilly in the VisitEngland Awards. In 2013 the hotel was highly commended in the national ceremony.

Another Tresco Estate business, the Ruin Beach Café, was commended in the restaurant award.

St Martin’s-based Scilly Seal Snorkelling was commended in the Tourism Activity, Sport and Experience of the Year category while Peninnis Farm Luxury Camping on St Mary’s was recognised with a commendation for their glamping tents in the Self Catering section.

The event in Newquay was hosted by Cornwall-born England rugby union star, Phil Vickery.

Scilly’s recognition within the 21 award groups is another success for the Islands’ Partnership, who had encouraged locals to enter this year’s competition.
