999 Fault Hits Islands’ Phone Network

police station 3If you have trouble making a 999 call on your landline, try calling on your mobile. That’s the advice from the Council’s Emergency Planning team after a BT fault blocked access to the emergency network on the islands for a short time yesterday.

Jason Mann from BT says the problem only lasted minutes and was cleared by around 1oam.

The radio system, which provides the service to the isles from the mainland, automatically restored without any engineering work being needed.

Jemma Gilmour says its worth using a mobile phone if it happens again.
