National Newspaper Tips Scilly As Next Foodie Destination

tresco bryher food festival 2014This week, Radio Scilly and Scilly Today have featured the success of Scilly producers with an interview with former Food Champion Issy Tibbs.

Now, more importantly, the Daily Telegraph tips Scilly as potentially the next foodie destination.

A report in their food and drink section is suggesting that Tresco and Bryher are attempting to turn the islands into a “gastronomic hotspot.”

In an article, writer Leah Hyslop highlights the number of islands-based producers that attended September’s Tresco and Bryher food festival including Troytown Farm, Veronica Farm Fudge, Ales of Scilly Brewery and Salakee Farm.

The author goes on to feature the number of food stalls and honesty boxes around the isles.

“Everywhere you go there are piles of veg or homemade cakes outside people’s houses, which you pay for by dropping coins in an honesty box,” she writes.

Leah adds that “being able to only get these unique foods on the Scillies is often part of their charm to tourists. “
