A business from the islands has made it to the finals of the annual Cornwall Tourism Awards. It’s the second year in a row for Bryher’s Hell Bay Hotel.

Their team will be hoping to repeat their 2013 Gold Award in the Small Hotel of the Year category.

They’ll hear whether they’ve won that again, or gained a silver or a bronze title, at an event in Newquay on the 6th November.

Three other Scilly businesses were given commendations during this year’s selection process.

Scilly Seal Snorkelling were highlighted in the Tourism Activity, Sport & Experience Category, while Peninnis Farm have been singled out in the Luxury Camping Self Catering Holiday Category for their ‘glamping’ luxury tents.

Tresco’s Ruin Beach Café was praised by judges in the Restaurant Category.

The Islands’ Partnership offered applicants help in submitting their entries.

Robin Barker is Director of Services for Tourism, the company that manages the awards and he feels that Scilly businesses are still “punching above their weight” in the quality of their offerings.

He says that having one finalist and three commended entries in this year’s awards is “a real coup.”
