Cricket: St Martin’s v Mal de Mers

cricket playersReport by Colin Daly

Monday saw the last cricket match of the St. Martin’s season; a T20 match with the Mal de Mers.

A 1 o’clock start was delayed briefly for a shower but after that the weather was kind if increasingly windy.

St. Martin’s, supplemented by players from St. Agnes, batted first but wickets tumbled readily although a 28 not out from James Morton made a just defendable total of 87 all out.

The Mals started slowly and at the halfway stage were behind the run rate but then they accelerated and achieved the total with four overs to spare. The game finished with a wide.

Lovely to see cricket but sad the season is now over. Looking forward to next summer.
