Big Success For This Year’s Tresco And Bryher Food Festival

tresco bryher food festival 2014This year’s Tresco and Bryher Food Festival was the most successful held so far, with over 500 visitors and islanders turning up to sample the produce on offer.

It’s the third year the event has been held.

Big draws included a special “catch it – cook it” shrimping session and a ‘pop-up’ restaurant at the Ruin Beach Café, hosted by chefs from Jamie Oliver’s restaurant Fifteen in Cornwall.

Over twenty Scillonian bakers, growers, brewers, fishermen and chefs showed off their finest produce. New exhibitors included St Mary’s-based duck-farmers, Salakee Farm, whom many attendees had seen on BBC1’s Countryfile

Tresco’s Hospitality Manager, Wayne Shaw, said the whole weekend was fantastic with a great ‘buzz.’ He was pleased with the number of visitors and residents from the other islands who made the trip over and said they’ve already started planning for next year.
