Final arrangements have been agreed for the new St Agnes Church window.

A second stained glass window, which depicts the St Agnes pilot gigs rowing out to the rescue after a shipwreck, has been designed and will be made by St Mary’s artist Oriel Hicks.

Canon Paul Miller says it will be installed next April and two additional window frames with clear glass will be put in at the same time to complement the new windows.

Steve Harding is making these as well as the frame for the stained glass window.

This will complete the stained glass window project which has run for a number of years under the leadership of Jimmy and Su Paget Brown who live at Periglis Cottage, opposite the church.

Over £18,000 has been raised for the project, given primarily by visitors to St Agnes Church.

Canon Paul Miller said it is a “fantastic achievement, which will provide magnificent stained glass windows depicting island scenes as well as four new windows to enable visitors to enjoy the views.”

Paul adds that the views through the clear windows “are pictures in themselves.”
