St Martin’s Children Celebrate Harvest Festival

harvest st martins 2014The children of St. Martin’s School base came to the island’s Church for their annual Harvest celebration with base leader Michael Tetley and his wife, Angela, the teaching assistant.

All the children took part in singing Harvest songs and performing in a Harvest play alongside a guest scarecrow!

They all brought harvest gifts of fruit and vegetables, which had been grown on the island.

Canon Paul Miller who attended the Harvest celebration said: “I found it very moving that everything that was brought came from St. Martin’s.

“Eggs had been laid there, grapes, tomatoes, beetroot, cabbage, courgettes and potatoes had been grown there and chutney and jam had been made there, some of it at the school base.”

Paul said some of the parents were able to attend too, which made it a very special celebration.
