St Mary’s Road Works Update 11th September 2014

Lagan Construction have provided the following roadworks update:

Resurfacing – Church Street and Hugh Street

Please be advised that preparation works in advance of resurfacing will commence on Church Street on Thursday 11th September at around 10:00 am.

These preparation works will comprise raising of manhole covers and frames (“ironwork”) and localised planing so that the new asphalt surface can be accommodated within the existing kerbs levels and other constraints.

It is anticipated that this road will be resurfaced after the preparation and resurfacing of the Bank Square and Hugh Street with surfacing works being progressed away from the quay towards St Mary’s church. Therefore Church Street may be left in a planed state for nearly a week but this would change if the underlying surface is poor. More information on the timings of the other works mentioned will follow shortly.

Additionally the MV River Trader is schedule to arrive on Thursday afternoon with off-loading taking place on Thursday and Friday nights. A full bulletin will be issued separately for this event.

Please take extra care when driving, cycling and walking when the roadway is in the prepared, planed state as ironwork will protrude above the existing surface. Not all raised covers will have individual warning signs.

Lagan Construction Ltd sincerely apologises for any disturbance this essential operation causes and thanks you in advance for your continuing co-operation and forbearance.

Please contact us on 07825 167569 if there are any problems during this work.

The St Mary’s Island Road Project is financed by the Council of the Isles of Scilly
