St Mary’s Harbour Works Update – 5th September 2014

harbourmasters officeHere is the latest update from the works on the quay as of 5th September 2014:

Wave Wall

The smoothing and patching works are in progress and are not causing any disruption to harbour operations.

Quay Surface

Jointing works are in progress and are not causing any disruption to harbour operations.

Trench Works

The initial trench works are now complete. However, over the coming week or two, a trench will need to be dug from the south western tip of the main building across the narrow roadway to where the new infill (Cornwall Council) section will be (approx. 3.5m). This trench will be covered with road plates for the duration of Cornwall Council’s project. We will ensure digging only takes place at the quieter times and that if the roadway requires closing, it will be for the shortest possible time. Information on timings will follow.

Harbourside Building

Internal works continue on both floors. Cladding to the rear of the building and removal of the ‘lean to’ roof in the rear yard will commence next week.

Scillonian III / Gry Maritha

The Scillonian III will finish her Sunday sailings this weekend. Her Saturday timings will also revert to normal 12.00pm arrival 4.30pm departure after the coming weekend. The Gry Maritha will keep her usual 3 visits per week.

Cruise Ships/ Shipping

The vessel ‘Windsurf’ is due tomorrow (Saturday) with the ‘Adonia’ on Sunday and the ‘Marco Polo’ on Monday. These are all large ships for us here and we can expect upwards of 1,500 passengers to visit through the port over these days. After these visits we have just two left for the year.

The ‘River Trader’ will return at least one more time. The amount of visits left has yet to be confirmed but we can expect her around the middle of next week.

PLEASE DO NOT BRING VEHICLES ONTO THE QUAY IF THEY ARE NOT BEING LOADED IMMEDIATELY – THERE IS NO PARKING SPACE AVAILABLE FOR COMMERCIAL VANS TO WAIT TO BE LOADED!

Please ensure that during these busy times you highlight anything of concern to the harbour office at the earliest opportunity and please do not hesitate to get in touch if you wish to discuss any of the above items.
