The head teacher of the Five Islands School, Linda Todd, says the pupils’ GCSE results are “very pleasing.”

All of the students achieved 5 or more A* to G grades, including English and Maths, and 73% received 5 or more A* to C marks.

They’ve performed well in both vocational and academic courses.

Nationally English results are reported to have seen a drop this year so Linda says that her team is delighted that 86% of Scilly students achieved grades A* to C. In Maths this was 91%.

The top performing pupils were Jess Lawson and Tom Glenn who both achieved 11 GCSEs. Tom got 4 A* grades, 2 As, 2 Bs and 3 Cs, while Jess achieved 7 A*s 2 As and 2Bs.

Linda says the results illustrate the hard work and commitment of students and staff.

She says all Year 11 students have secured places in post-16 colleges and sixth forms. She wishes them the best of luck in the next phase of their education.
