A new record time has been set for the Daymark Dash.

74 islanders and visitors ran the 4.2 mile course on St Martin’s, from the Karma Hotel to the navigational marker and back yesterday.

First to cross the line was St Mary’s man Philip Greenlaw. He finished in 25 minutes and 56 seconds, shaving 20 seconds off Richard Price-Thomas’ previous record.

Youngsters ran to the Reading Room and the winner of that race was Felix Brooks who completed the run in 9 minutes and 57 seconds.

Organiser Toby Tobin-Dougan says it was “fantastic to see people enjoying themselves on the hotel lawns afterwards.”

Entrants were all treated to a glass of his homemade lemonade.

They all paid £1 to take part and Toby says a cheque for £74 is being sent to the Cornwall Air Ambulance this weekend.
