Three young children visiting St Mary’s this month have put their craft skills to good use, raising money for charity.

Charlotte Oliffe and Benji Price, both aged 6, with Seb Price, aged 7, who all live in Cheltenham, collected pebbles on the island’s beaches and painted them as Scilly bees.

They then sold them outside their holiday home to passers by for £1 each.

Mum, Fran Oliffe, said the bees proved so popular that they had to make several raids on the shoreline for more pebbles, raising over £60 for the Children’s Hospice South West.

Charlotte said she enjoyed helping to raise the money for sick children and Frances said she was proud of the youngster’s efforts.
