Islands’ Partnership Highlighting Successes As Membership Renewal Begins

islands partnership team new brochure 2013This weekend, the Islands’ Partnership is sending members details of their successes over the last year.

Some of their achievements include the new brochure, which turned out to be so popular that an additional 10,000 copies had to be printed.

They’ve also created a new, award winning website from scratch, which has quickly become the dominant force in tourism promotion for the islands.

And the organisation itself is going from strength to strength.

Tourism coordination Amanda Pender says there are now 306 IP members. She’s hoping that additional businesses will sign up for next season, because the more support they have, the more they can achieve.

And she says they’ll be encouraging more mainland businesses who deal with Scilly to come on board.

Amanda says the Partnership is proud of what they’ve done in promoting tourism.

They’ve developed a database of 35,000 people who have asked for Scilly updates, which they receive monthly.

And they organised 27 visits for journalists and travel writers, resulting in high profile stories in UK and international publications.

Visitor numbers are up and, although there are a number of factors responsible for that, including good weather, the Partnership feels they have played a part in that.

Annual subscriptions for membership of the not-for-profit body will need renewing by September 1st. The relevant paperwork, as well as an outline of their future plans, will be going out by mail or hand delivered this weekend.

Around 700 businesses both here and on the mainland will receive the pack.
