Majority Of Visitors Now Use Visit Scilly Website Says Survey

visit isles of scilly website 2014The Islands’ Partnership says over 80% of visitors now use their website as the first port of call to find out about Scilly.

And they say visitors want cheaper and more accessible travel options, online booking, and more dog-friendly accommodation.

That’s some of the feedback that the Partnership has received from their survey, launched in February.

They’ve had 232 responses, enticed by the chance to win a £250 prize.

Carolyn Garman from the Partnership says they’ve been delighted by the response to the new ‘Visit Isles of Scilly’ website launched earlier this year.

It’s already picked up an award for its design.

She says it’s their most important marketing tool and it’s good to see visitors appreciate it.

But she added that there’s still room for a print version of the brochure. That’s also taken a “step change” this year, says Carolyn and 29% of respondents continue to use it.

The wide coverage for the islands in newspapers, magazines and on TV has also been powerful, with many survey responders saying that influenced their decision to come to Scilly.

The Partnership has been making some small changes to the website to reflect the feedback.

Carolyn says they’ve added a separate half board accommodation page and they’re uploading more stories and blogs from visitors to their ‘memories’ section.

The Partnership is also trying to encourage more members to make use of the accommodation availability section by providing training.

The Visitor Opinion Survey is continuing this year and anyone taking part could win two free Skybus tickets for next year.
