Money Returned To Theft Victim

police station 4Police arrested a man on St Martin’s on Friday 8th August following reports of an alleged theft.

And after the officers’ intervention, all of the cash has been returned to the person who reported it stolen.

They’re not taking the matter further now the victim has got their money back.

Sergeant Colin Taylor and PC Mat Crow took the man into custody on the island on Friday evening.

The seasonal worker, a man in his 40s, was transferred by officers to St Mary’s where he was held in the police cells until the early hours on Saturday morning.

During a search of the suspect, the officers also found a knife with a blade longer than three inches on his person. He’s received a caution for carrying that in public.

The man is expected to leave the island by the end of the day, says Colin.
