The St Mary’s lifeboat was called out yesterday afternoon after an 18ft dinghy with three people on board got into difficulty in the St Helen’s Pool area.

Falmouth Coastguard says the sailors were waving for help and contact was made using VHF radio. They believe there was an issue with the rigging.

The Cyclone jet boat towed the boat into Old Grimbsy after the Coastguard put out a call for assistance.

The lifeboat crew stood by until they were confident that the boat was out of danger.

It is the seventh job for St Mary’s lifeboat this year.
