Police Make Arrest For Alleged Bike Theft

police landrover backAn islander has been arrested over an alleged bike theft.

The male was apprehended around midnight on Friday after a resident on Church Street saw what they allege was a bike theft.

A bike was retrieved from St Mary’s quay.

The youth was kept in the police cells until the early hours on Saturday morning in connection with the matter and he will be bailed to reappear at the police station later this week.

Sergeant Colin Taylor says he also retrieved alcohol from under 18s over the weekend. An unopened bottle of vodka was taken from children in the Porthcressa area on Friday night.

Colin says it’s risky for children to be out late at night after having consumed alcohol and he doesn’t accept the argument that is sometimes made that underage drinking is part of growing up.

He says he’ll be speaking to the parents.
