Folk Club Appealing For Return Of Lost Microphones

old town innOrganisers of the islands’ Folk Club are hoping that whoever has taken their microphones will bring them back.

On Wednesday, their equipment case, which also contains their loudspeakers, was found opened in the Old Town Inn performance area. It should have been packed away.

Club organiser Roz Hicks says she’s disappointed that the club will have to fork out around £400 to replace the four mics if whoever has taken them doesn’t return them.

She says she hopes they’ve just been borrowed.

Roz says she understands why folk purists might think that the p.a. system is unnecessary and she says when the group was started by Dougall Jefferies 8 years ago at the Longstone Centre, people “just sang as loud as they could.” But with the background noise of a busy bar, the extra volume boost is vital.

The club has loaned temporary mics for their Saturday show at 8pm at the Old Town Inn.

UPDATE: Margaret at the Old Town Inn says that the missing mics have been returned, anonymously, in time for the Folk Club performance.
