A group of Five Islands’ school students are off to Norway today.

They are going on the trip as part of the Leading Edge initiative, which science teacher Mike Rigby has coordinated for the last 10 years.

Six Year 10 pupils will join six youngsters from Penryn College on the 6-day trekking challenge across Jotunheimen, the highest mountain range in Norway.

In just under one week the islanders will be walking approximately 75km from hut to hut.

And the end of the challenge wil see them scale the summit of Fannaraken at 2,068 metres.

The party is set to spend their final night of trekking overlooking glaciers. They will then travel back to Oslo to enjoy 3 days of exploration and culture.
