Inquest Held Into Tragic Death Of St Mary’s Man

wesleyan chapel 2An inquest into the tragic early death of a St Mary’s man says he died as a result of epilepsy, brought on by an accident when he was a teenager.

Matthew Pritchard was found at his home on 11th August last year, just a day before his 41st birthday.

At the inquest held in the Old Wesleyan Chapel last Friday, Coroner Deborah Archer heard how Mr Pritchard developed epilepsy eight years after being knocked unconscious in a motorbike accident at the age of 14.

His family described how, with medication, he had managed the condition, leading a completely normal life and only rarely suffering seizures.

The Coroner offered her sincere condolences to the family and apologised for the delay in holding the inquest, which she said was due to administrative changes in the service.
