Partnership To Recruit Its First Chief Exec

islands partnership logoScilly’s tourism body, the Islands’ Partnership, is recruiting its first Chief Executive.

The successful applicant is likely to become the most senior figure in the islands’ tourism industry.

The move follows a year of successes for the Partnership, which has grown its membership to 300 since forming in 2012.

Their first brochure, the 2014 guide, was well received by the industry and visitors and a new destination website launched this spring won a national web award last week. has seen an increase in visits compared with the previous site.

Chairman Chris Gregory says Scilly’s tourism industry has experienced a 6% rise in advanced travel bookings compared with last year and that’s reversing a 10-year downward trend. He says all indications are that interest in visiting the islands is continuing to grow.

Chris now feels the Partnership need to move up a gear and challenges dealt with by a team that has full time professional leadership, not just the consultancy services that they currently rely on.

At the moment, IP decisions are made by a board. The new CEO will implement their policy but he or she will have more autonomy and will advise the board on market trends.

He or she will also develop the marketing strategy and deliver an integrated tourism and transport offer so visitors have a joined-up experience.

The successful applicant could command a £60,000 a year salary for an initial 2 year post.

The postholder will be able to live in Scilly or the mainland. Applications can be sent to Chris Gregory at Hugh House by Monday 21st July.
