Council Asks Minister For More Roads Cash

roadworks 2014More roads could be resurfaced on St Mary’s if the government agrees to give the Council the extra cash.

The authority has asked Transport Minister Baroness Kramer for around £1m extra funding, so the Authority can make the most of the specialist batching plant kit being used to resurface roads and the airport runway.

A number of potholed roads or poor-quality lanes, including the road to Mount Flagon, are not going to be resurfaced under the current £1.5m works being carried out by contractor Lagan Construction.

Officers have told councillors that the meeting went well.
