Islands’ Partnership Launching Scilly Photography Competition Today

islands partnership team new brochure 2013If you’re proud of your pictures of Scilly, send them to the Islands’ Partnership and you could win a short break on the islands for yourself or friends.

The tourism body wants to collect more images to use to market the islands, and they’re launching a photo competition this morning.

Tourism Coordinator Amanda says it clear that the stunning imagery of the islands used in the new brochure and website is a powerful way to draw people here and the Partnership is always on the lookout for new photos.

They’ve already commissioned mainland and Scilly-based photographers to take photos of the islands but Amanda says thousands of snaps are taken by visitors and locals each year and she thinks there might be something really special in a private collection.

There are some areas in particular, such as St Agnes, where the Partnership need more pictures, but for the purposes of the competition entries will be divided into different categories including Nature and Wildlife, Human Interest, Living Landscape, Inspirational Scilly, Split-Second Scilly, Heritage, Recreational Scilly and Arriving in Scilly.

The Partnership and AONB staff will shortlist images and then the public will be asked to vote online for the ones they like best.

The competition goes live today on VisitIslesofScilly.com and remains open until August 31st.

The winner will receive two return tickets on the Scillonian and two nights B&B at Samson Hill Cottage on Bryher.
