Bryher Man Gets Drink Drive Ban

police landrover backA Bryher resident has been disqualified from driving for 17 months.

Police stopped Haydn Street in April, during a daytime visit to the island. He was breathalysed by officers after driving a quad vehicle.

Last week, a court in Torquay heard that a blood sample had found 138 mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood. The legal limit is 80mg.

The court imposed a £140 fine, £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge.

The driving ban duration could be shortened on completion of a drink-driving awareness course.
