Top Class Comedy Coming To Scilly This Autumn

Scilly is set for an evening of top class stand-up comedy this autumn.

The Islands’ Partnership has arranged for comedian and TV presenter Russell Kane to perform at the Five Islands School on Saturday 6th September.

Russell is well known to comedy fans through his regular appearance on TV panel and comedy shows. He also won the top award at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2010.

His concert date is all down to the Partnership’s proactive social media activity. Russell has agreed to bring his show to Scilly after the Visit Isles of Scilly team followed him on Twitter.

He tweeted that he’d always wanted to come here and the Partnership invited him to perform.

“It seemed like the perfect opportunity,” he says.

The St Mary’s date is part of his ‘Smallness’ tour, which celebrates everything small.

Russell’s Scilly gig will see him supported by popular Cornish comedian, the Kernow King.

Tickets are likely to sell quickly judging by the islands’ passion for comedy.

The Cornish comic’s recent gigs at the Old Town Inn were sell-outs. And an earlier comedy event, the 2008 comedy tour of Edinburgh Festival performers, packed out the Bishop and Wolf and Seven Stones.

Chairman of the Islands’ Partnership Chris Gregory says he’s thrilled to be hosting Russell at the tourism body’s first major comedy event.

It adds to a packed September, which includes the annual Tresco and Bryher Food Festival and a second Walk Scilly Weekend.

Tickets are £17.50 and can be booked from the Islands’ Partnership on 424036.
