Scilly was blessed with sun and nice sailing winds for a great night of race sailing. It was again encouraging to see a mixed fleet of 10 dinghies on the water with a total of 14 sailors out. The winds seemed to slightly favour the Redwing fleet but there were lots of close battles within the fleet.

The first race saw Keith and Jake Buchanan off to a flying start, in fact it was too much of a flying start and the penalty turn required for crossing the line ahead of the start signal ultimately cost them the race with Joe and Clive Sibley able to take advantage and first place.

Kate Milford came in a creditable 3rd on handicap, the first of the Laser sailors. Hamish Berkeley was the only sailor to manage a capsize during this race in his effort to creep ahead in the race for the Capsize Cup.

Only 7 boats made the start line for the second race. Carol Shave had to retire with a broken pulley on her main sheet and 2 laser sailors decided the wind had dropped a little too much for their choice of sail.

An exciting close-fought start saw the boats cross the line in close proximity. James Fletcher and Sam Stephan took an early lead on the beat to the first mark and were able to hold the lead to the end.
