St Mary’s, Scilly Roadworks June 26th
St Mary’s Airport Improvement Project and St Mary’s Island Roads-
Thursday 26th.
Lagan Construction has sent this update to Radio Scilly.
On Thursday, resurfacing works will take place on Telegraph Road starting from the entrance to
Porth Mellon Industrial Estate working towards the top of the hill by the Old School. With the
variable road widths on this section the road will be closed until the works are finished which is
likely to be around 5 pm.
Preparation works will continue in the Jerusalem Terrace / Garrison Lane area and most likely
on the link road from the Old School to St Mary’s church.
Route advice:
All traffic from Hugh Town to and from both the airport and the country areas will have to pass
through Old Town. As the asphalt on Telegraph Road lad on Wednesday is still fresh and not
fully oxidised we will run our tractors and trailers through Old Town. To help ease traffic
congestion and the need to reverse in the narrow sections we will use flag men with stop and go
boards using radios to communicate with each other. Please follow instructions given.
Please note that the programme can change due to weather and operational reasons but we do
not anticipate any change in the short term works described.
Lagan Construction Ltd sincerely apologises for any disturbance during these works.
