Planners have given their approval for an Old Town property to be reconfigured to create two ‘dwelling houses.’

The Farmhouse in Old Town is currently set up as two flats, one on the ground floor and one on the first floor.

The owners want to turn those into a pair of upper and lower storey houses.

The properties were used as holiday lets up until 2009, but are now occupied by the owners’ son and daughter.

Their application says the changes will make them more practical to live in, reduce noise disruption and improve privacy and fire safety.

Senior Manager for Infrastructure, Craig Dryden, said there would be minimal changes to the outside appearance, other than a small new porch and in-fill extension to the side.

He recommended accepting the plans and councillors agreed unanimously.
