Cricket June 19th 2014: St Martin’s v St Mary’s

On a fine June evening St. Mary’s came to St. Martin’s for a T20 match. The home team won the toss and put St. Mary’s in to bat first. Early wickets were taken but then J. Francis joined M. Hicks at the crease and they scored 26 and 51 not out respectively, taking their team total to 150.

Some Tresco players had joined the St. Martin’s team but even with their contribution, the home team were all out for 91. J. Taylor (Tresco) at 40 was the top scorer. Lengthening shadows saw the arrival of the Sevenstones “bus” and all were whisked away to a hospitable evening joining the England supporters watching the Uruguay match on the big screen and drowning their sorrows at the England defeat.
