The head of Scilly’s police team has been telling pupils at a Swedish school about life on the islands.

Sergeant Colin Taylor has visited a friend who teaches in Kungsbacka, near Gothenburg.

The teacher came over to the islands last year and was keen to forge a relationship between his school and the Five Islands School.

Tim Garratt arranged for the islands’ schoolchildren to write to their Swedish counterparts and Colin delivered their messages in person.

He returned with their mail and a gift of a football, which will be presented at school in a few days.

Colin says he enjoyed chatting with the 10 year olds and showed them photos of the school and aspects of his policing work here.

And he says he was struck by how similar the Swedish and English schools are.

Colin says the classes looked identical, with a similar feel and teaching style to our own.
