Partnership Wants Scilly’s Businesses To Enter Awards

islands partnership logoIslanders involved with tourism should enter regional awards to help promote their own businesses and the islands’ offer.

Coordinator of the Islands’ Partnership Amanda Pender says nominations can now be made, and every entrant will help showcase Scilly as a quality tourism destination on a regional and, potentially, a national platform.

In 2013, nine Scillonian businesses entered the VisitCornwall Awards.

They won a bronze, a silver and two gold awards.

As part of the process that started last spring, Hell Bay Hotel went on to the national awards earlier this year, where they gained a Highly Commended.

Amanda believes that Scilly’s success is impressive when you consider that our total population is around half that of Padstow.

This year’s categories include pubs and restaurants, B&Bs, hotels, and self catering. There are also trophies for customer service, accessibility, tourism information and sustainability.

The winners of the Cornwall and Scilly awards are fast-tracked into the South West awards and the regional winners then go to the national competition. Recent finalists are sharing their tips on how to win on the awards website.

But Amanda says the Islands’ Partnership would like to help locals with the application process and you can call them on 424036.

The deadline for entries is 29th June and it is free to enter.
