Oldest Wing Walker Completes Crossing To Scilly

wing walker 2014The world’s oldest wing walker flew from Land’s End to Scilly yesterday.

95-year-old Tom Lackey from the West Midlands made the crossing on his birthday on the top of a biplane.

Rain delayed the stunt but plenty of people turned out to watch the grandfather of two in action.

Speaking before the challenge Tom told Radio Scilly that he began fundraising events for the British Heart Foundation after his wife died suddenly in 2000. Ten years ago he suffered a stroke and has since raised cash for the Stroke Association.

Tom has raised around £1 million for good causes over the years and this was his 30th wing walk.

He says he has no plans to retire.
